Looking for good movies about artists...

I am looking for movies about artists. Two of my favorites are "Pollock" and "American Splendor". I am interested in documentaries and dramas... or just about anything inspiring and about art. Do you have any favorites? Recommedations? Or even warnings about movies that are a waste of time?

Some that come to my mind are Artemisia and Vincent and Theo.  I also like the A&E series on the Impressionists that they did a few years back.   I find that series very inspiring. :)

Movies about Art and Artists

Oh, I love this topic! LOL.

Pollack was great! And so was FRIDA..

An oldie I like was LUST FOR LIFE with Kirk Douglas as Vincent Van Gogh.. Campy but good!

If you get a chance to watch Sunday In The Park With George...Its a Broadway musical (but not in the Oklahoma! genre). Its about Seurat.

Here are some others l like:

 Basquiat

Goya in Bordeaux

Art School Confidential

Girl With a Pearl Earring

Modigliani (with Andy Garcia)

My

Left Foot (1989)

Sketches of Frank Gehry (2006)

Surviving Picasso (1996)

What

Dreams May Come
(1998)

Forgot about Frida...

I have Frida. I don't know why I haven't watched it yet. Thanks for reminding me about it...

movies about artists

I recently watched Rivers and Tides, which is a documentary by, and about, a contemporary artist named Andy Goldsworthy.  It's very different from the others mentioned.  He is a sculptor who creates transitory art outdoors using ice, driftwood, stones, etc.  Quirky, but pretty interesting.
