marketing prep

Is preparing for a 3 day show the same as pre show marketing? Memorial Day weekend is my biggest sales opportunity of the spring when I participate in the Paradise City show, kind of like a trade show for fine arts and crafts where every booth is a gallery in itself and every artist must be there representing their work. I have done this show twice a yr for 3 yrs now and before every show I try to do something to improve my booth and display. Yesterday I finally decided to buy a 9 x 7 rug to coordinate with my display panels, with the thought that my paintings will look more professional in a cleaner booth space. I also decided to order 8 new notecards.. the simple $3 sale that can actually add up! (I probably had 40 different cards in stock but wanted to freshen them up) And aside from all new framed paintings to  display, I decided to make a less expensive $50 print pricepoint to offer along with my high end $150 and $475 giclee prints. I also have an ad in the show magazine and I know people sometimes see my ad, go to my website, then make a point of visiting my booth.

My sales are down for the year and although I accept it is a tough time for selling art right now I am hoping my efforts to make the best of it pay off.

Post show followup to follow after memorial day weekend!

Good Luck Robin

It sounds like you are putting your heart and sole into this show.  Good luck, we look forward to the report. Have you sold a lot of giclee's in the past? I have not had much luck with them, but I never really pushed them either.
