If you go to the google sattelite maps - put in Marathon, Ontario and on the east side of Lake Superior near Marathon you will see where the Pic River empties into the lake its a very muddy clay river that looks yellow all the time
this area has been inhabited by the Ojibaway here as long as is recorded on paper and in Pukaskwa National park next to it, there are large stone pits and circles along the lakeshore ( that the park will not disclose the location of to the public ) from the early inhabitants - the Pic Dunes are very ecologically fragil and portions of it were burial grounds so they do no want anyone walking on them........the winds and the lake waves get pretty severe in this area also because of all the small islands around its the rivers mouth.......:-)
These are the Sand Dunes on Lake Superior Near the Pic River - Pow Wow Grounds in Heron Bay - you can only see them from the Lake - they are not to be walked on
