I come to realize that taking out frustration wiith doing artwork sure beats banging up one's own body or something more valuable (no...not the car!)in those fits of rage that sometimes ensues over useless events.
This is the ONLY painting of mine that survives from the 70's. I had just gotten married that summer, and had a very tough job at a Northern Michigan pallet/ sawmill operation. The boss, who was basically the toughest guy at the mill, was a rough guy to deal with. My brother in law, another guy and I, were all brought in to the office one afternoon, and told we were fired by the boss. Seems the were thinking we were running a nailing machine improperly. I was totally pissed, since I knew the firing was bogus. That afternoon, I started this painting, and finished it the next day. I was under total inspiration at the time..... The next day I cut up a 1970 chev impala with a double headed axe. I felt better. The funny part was 3 days later, after having all kinds of problems, with the nailer, all 3 of us got called back to work! We got paid for the time off, and the boss backed off on us for the duration.....seems a business consultant told the owner and our boss, they better get us back.....due to the lack of jobs in the area, we all went back, having enjoyed our short, paid vacation!......Craig
