@Space Contemporary is pleased to announce the exhibition Dreams of Floating, Dreams of Falling featuring the paintings of Jason Rutherford. This exhibition is a culmination of three years of collecting found images salvaged from books, gathered patterns and grids, and expired building blueprints. The result: a series of mixed media paintings with a dreamlike quality lacking any narrative thread. Each painting possesses an unknown symbolic vocabulary constituted of gesture, location, imagery and text devoid of theoretical or philosophical statements. This group of work is centralized around Rutherford’s tendency to connect and organize information and technique until they coalesce into a work of satisfying relationships.
