| ABOUT ME |
Why do you paint?
For me, art is the constant evolution of life. There is nothing that I did to make it began; and likewise there is nothing that I can do to stop it. It will remain always. I am merely a catalyst.
Why abstracts?
I began painting when I was a child. A child approaches color and shape with no apprehension. There is no fear of how the images will be perceived – loved or hated. It is that sense of freedom that I channel now. I must admit that I was unaware of the challenges I would face when I chose to paint non-objectively. I paint abstracts because I am illustrating the symbolism of life, and life is bigger than any object I know.
What are your intentions?
Abstraction communicates the truth of emotion and reality. I became obsessed with circles several years ago after studying Mandala. Mandala is an ancient art form that uses the process of drawing circles in order to obtain enlightenment. I believe the symbolism of the circle is far greater than any other shape. I feel circular connections between all things. Through painting, I am connecting people with my personal visions.
Why all the circles?
What is not spiraling all around us? We find ourselves as part of the spiral Milky Way Galaxy, elliptically orbiting a giant sphere we call the sun. Our earth itself is a sphere, and it is orbited by a sphere called the moon. We all come from a womb, a sphere of life within our mothers. Our bodies are made of atoms, all swirling with electrons. Our eyes, the portals through which we are granted vision, are two round spheres. Our lives themselves are a circular cycle. I paint circles because I see circles everywhere. |
