The Smiths, New Order, Erasure, the Cure, Joy Division, Ministry, Depeche Mode -- I never stopped liking the bands I listened to in high school!

McSweeneys (I have to admit I buy them but they just sit there, I think I like the production values more than the content)

Boring BBC documentaries about old paintings. Spider-man, X-men, Hulk and Wolverine. and Batman, Star Wars, Matrix, etc.

I am primarily a graphic designer but I have been painting all my life. I've been taking my artwork more seriously these days, averaging one or two artworks a week, using either oil or acrylic paints.

My website is http://www.christophermartinfineart.com

I like politics, baseball, comic books, and watching tv shows on dvd.

I dislike fox news and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Reading, painting and working on the computer.

Hi Christopher!

Thanks for the congrats on my blog post about being accepted into the Lines into Shapes Show.

I really like you latest Lincolns.  I grew up in northern Illinois; it's nice to see depictions relevant to the state.

Hey Chris, Thanks for your comment on "Natural High". I can dig "freaky, but in a good way". I think that pretty much describes me as much as the painting...   -Don

Hi This is Brett Turner or shortfuse56 I just wanted to thank you for your kind comments about my painting "Dead Soldiers" I have a site you might want to check out, it is  www.bturnerartist.com I am about to add some work I had a really fun and satisfying time doing. If I can ever get my web guy to call me back to get them on. I learned DreamWeaver, somewhat bumpy but finally got it, but Flash and Action Script stopped me cold. I hated losing all that time in the studio. I've got to have several paintings going at the same time, so I can paint every single day as I have found I can see degradation of my skills after a day or two. I also do Fine Art Photography, which gives me an excuse to travel with my little dog and check out the most left field places we can find. Anyway thanks.

I am refreshed to see artists exploring, and taking chances giving others the balls to do avant guard pieces that not only open territory which is saying boundaries in "acceptable art" are set to be smashed and that all art is about exploration, but you go further and add text to express the exact same thing to the viewers. I am drawn towards the color and looseness you employ, yet with such energy. What did they call that in school? the one I could never spell....oh yeah....Juxtaposition. see never do get that right. Nothing but good thought and success for you bro. Your Friend B.Turner aka shortfuse56. Keep em guessing, let them do some of the work. Later

Thanks for the comment on my painting. Your graphics background has a definite influence on your work which to me, is wonderful. Your lines have such wonderful strength and definition and you use the purest of color. I was told when i began painting, if you use the purest of color and stay true to your heart you will be a success! Good luck I love your direction!
