I have been working with clay for almost twenty years and actively showing and selling my work for fifteen years. Since I don't have to support myself (thank you wonderful and supportive husband!) with my art, I am constantly struggling with the desire to make "important" work or just to have fun and please my audience. I guess I'm trying to do some of both. When I'm not in my studio, I'm busy fighting back vigorous nature on our four acres; blackberries, vinca, thistle, and happy conifer seedlings, all who wish to re-colonize. I also can be found tootling away with my recorder consort, Laissez-Faire.

I just realized you are in Nevada City, CA.  The Mowen Solinsky Gallery has one of my pieces.  It may still be in their showroom.  It is a large book that has a globe of the world gusting out of it.

Love your work.  The political figures are great.  I did an Alan Greenspan, Saddam and a George W Bush – check out my caricature gallery under archives on my website.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my website (www.sfclay.com).  I have yet to show at the Natsoulas Gallery, but hope to some day.  I do go to the CCACA conference every year and have shown my work there with San Francisco State University.  We usually show at the Kaplan School across the street from Natsoulas.  I will have work there again this year.  I also love the crusty glazes especially the Lichen.  I do mix a lot of my own glazes.  I developed most of the glaze recipes that I used on the military pieces.  These can be seen at my MFA Thesis show at SFSU in April.  I also participate in the San Francisco Open Studios (this year Oct 11 & 12th for my neighborhood).

Hey clay girl- the pieces in the gallery show are life size- from a child to an adult... Let's see- what else did you ask? They're painted with many layers of sponged, brushed and poured acrylic, then UV varnished... oh yeah... they are giant coil pots... paddled and pounded with sort of inner struts inside wherever they need them. Buttresses.

Oh my gosh- clay talk. it gets lonely in my studio.

Thanks for the queries.

Your work is cool.

Love your background image of kiln stilts and skeletons! Mud is such a great medium!
