I was born and raised in Massachusetts and have been making art since I was a child. Since 2003, I
have lived in an emerging artists' community, the Lower Town Arts District, in Paducah, Kentucky. We are a community of some 50 or so artists, musicians and writers.
Before moving to Paducah, I was and art professor, teaching Drawing, Life Drawing, Painting and Art Appreciation. I taught art at the college level for 16 years.
It has been quite an adventure and rewarding experience to be part of building this community. Being surrounded by so many other artists puts a fire under me and makes me a better artist, sort of like being in art school permanently. Our community has all kinds of artists, media and styles, so we have a wonderful cross pollination of ideas.
My primary media are oil paint and pastels, but I love to draw as much as I love to paint. Lately, I have been experimenting with mixed media oils using oil paint stick over collage, which is lots of fun.
Art making and looking at art in all of its many forms. Designing, Cooking, Singing, Dancing, Watching Movies, Playing Mandolin, Gardening, Walking with my dogs.
Thanks, Gerebear. I appreciate your kind words about "Wolf Couple Under Moonlight". I enjoyed visiting your site. It is hard to believe that you have only been painting for a year. Keep up the good work!
Oh, another Grace. What kind of dog is she? Our Gracie follows our great LabraDane, Beau, who was a hard act to follow, but Gracie definitely fills up our life with bundles of canine love.
The seagulls are from our recent trip to New Zealand, where our son was just married! Quite a trip. I seem to be quite fascinated by birds for the first time.......so far, I've painted mostly dogs and cows....there is so much bird activity right now.
Paducah sounds like a great environment for an artist. I'm in a little town in Vermont, Brandon, that is morphing into an arts colony. It's very exciting to be part of it. Love your portraits. Very beautiful color, and the positioning of the figure is unique. Very nice.
It worked! I did check back. I'm new at this too. When you sign in, your messages are listed. Click on the message and you get a page to type your response so it goes directly to the intial sender.
Not sure if this is the way to respond to you. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, some of my work is in pastel. I am an oil painter and pastel artist, and I often paint oil paint sticks. I enjoyed looking at your work as well.
