I have been in education for 16 years and have recently made a huge change. I've gone from middle school principal to substitute teacher. I loved being a principal but missed the interaction/teaching with my students. I am taking this year to get my life back and paint and promote my art. I believe I will look for a full time teaching position next year by who knows! My options are open! As would many others I would love to create my art full time. Most of my art seems to center around the ocean. I love to snorkle and love the water.
The most important part of my life is my family.

thank you so much for the compliment...the book is selling well. i am teaching full time, taking two master courses in painting and art tech work, presenting at art ed conference and still doing some of my own stuff...my sketch book is full.  i need time off from teaching just to try and do all that is in it.. the problem i have is that i am always coming up with new ideas and sketches...

however,,,,keeping me busy keeps me out of trouble. hahaha lol

i was  injured for a long period last spring so i can relate ...however i was able to complete the fiber sculpture during that time that was in our 1st distrinct art teacher exhibit.

i wish you lots of good and happy creating ....i am glad to have help.

happy creating :)

your works are so peaceful....i find it funny that you are a middle school principl and are turned off by loud people and crowds....i teach middle school art....my school is a secondary ( ms and hs ) with over 4000 students. so you can understand why i find that humorous.

happy creating :)

Thank you so much for your comment on the Saint Louis Cathedral.  it was tough for me to get past the mental barrier of useing the bright colors ... only time will tell if i can keep it up.  I noticed that on your "red on blue", and "orange on blue" especially, that you keyed up the red with an orange (blue's opposite), that was great!  It really makes those come to life for me.  I started to get brave with the colors by looking at the many paintings that Monet did of the Rouen Cathedral, that might help you too, though it loks like youre heading in the right direction anyway.

We seem to have a lot in common.    Having worked years in education, I know you are busy, busy, busy.  Your work is lovely.  Welcome.   Lucinda
