Just got back from a trip to Maine. Stayed near Bar Harbor at a great B & B - http://www.cottagebytheseamaine.com/. The breakfasts were outstanding and the accommodations were very comfortable.

Weather was lousy the first three days - dreary, drizzly, foggy, cool. It gave the visit to one of the lighthouses an eerie atmosphere. Spent some time driving to various coastal towns and fishing villages. Not what we expected. Didn't realize that the area is mostly poor and doesn't have much of an economy other than fishing and the summer tourism. Saw lots of shacks and run down trailers. I imagined how rough it must be living there during the winters.

Our whale watch boat trip was cancelled twice because of the weather : (

A few days later it cleared up and we spent a day at Acadia National Park. What an amazing piece of real estate that place is!! Ate popovers on the lawn at the Jordan Pond House (gimme a basket of these delicious pastries and I'm set). The B & B owner gave us a CD for the car that gave us a detailed tour of the park and all the great sites. Took 6 hours to get through it. Sand Beach and the summit of Cadillac Mountain were spectacular! Took a bunch of photos that I hope will be good reference for upcoming paintings. Put Acadia on your list of places to visit.

Yes, I ate lobster rolls and blueberries...

Good to hear from you.. Scuttlebutt was definitely quieter over the summer. I was in Maine last weekend, but just for the day, and whenever I drive up north I am always amazed by the trees, and the coastline, and I have never been to Arcadia National Park but I know its amazing. I am looking forward to seeing what you do with the photos you took while you were there.
