So, it's the start of another school year which means the start of another schedule of making lunches, laundry and time at the easel. With every start of the school year, we seem to get new surprises. Politics, elections and budgets dictate how the year will go.
This causes a ripple effect. Something so simple as - fill out this paper as part of the new and improved red tape - adds another minute to the day, which takes another minute from something else, which takes another minute from something else, and the ripple continues.
I suppose that's what we are supposed to call balance. Balancing the pitfalls and rises of each ripple. Hopefully, once the rise and fall smooths out, I will not find myself so utterly exhausted at the end of the day where all I can muster is the strength to look at my painting, rather than work on my painting. Then again, I tell my students a large part of creating art is actually looking at it. Truth be told, I am getting rather bored looking at it and need to find the energy (and the time!) to paint again!
