I found an interesting opportunity in the listings of Art Calendar. I think it was in the August issue. It was a request for puzzle pieces made into pins. The pins will be auctioned off for $25 each to benefit autism research. My approach to this project was to make 3 little puzzles (3.5" X 4.5") out of clay. Each puzzle has 9 pieces. My concept was that a family or support group for an autistic child could purchase the entire puzzle and each wear a piece. They would then in essence hold all of the pieces to their loved one's puzzle. The design for each puzzle is linked to the notions of hope and learning and I wrote a little verse for each. My sole intention in participating  was to make a contribution to the autism foundation. Now I think the one who benefited most may have been me. Making the puzzles was a blast and I have several other art projects in mind that involve variations on my puzzle concept. I can hardly wait to get started. I view this flood of inspiration as a gift of reciprocity from the universe. I have read numerous articles that caution against "giving your art away". I do it a few times each year and it has always come back to me in spades. I am planning to watch the auction just to see how it goes. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime check out the pictures of my pieces. I've downloaded them to artscuttlebutt. Don't forget to feed the universe, it, in turn will feed your soul.
