I heard back from the fist juried show I have entered since college and none of my entries were chosen. I'm of course disappointed but I know it comes with the teritory. I'm still excited about the show and can't wait to go see the opening.

I'm working on some oil paintings and have some other juried events I'm entering.

i take rejections hard. but its pointless and not productive. when i decided to serve my own eye, and not try to make pieces for entering juried shows, i got shows. If you stay in the herd, you can't create new things. But out of the herd, be prepared to be attacked. Its more exciting that way anyhow. Winston Churchill said, " There is nothing more exciting than to be shot at and the bullet miss."  You have to put yourself in the line of fire to have the most fun in life.

Just realize that "you" don't like " everyone" elses work but that doesn't mean they aren't good they just don't do what "appeals" to You and maybe that will help.Remember it is all in the eye of the beholder.

Good Luck !

Sorry to hear that your work was not selected for the show.

Just remember that not being selected has absolutely no reflection on quality of your work.

Keep making art!

Don't let one rejection bother you.  I enter about 10 shows a year and get rejected about 75% of the time.  You just have to find the right fit.  What one jury rejects the next one may select.  Keep plugging away.

Having your work rejected is always dissapointing, but I know of no other way than to try.  One piece of advice that someone gave me is to enter more than one show at a time.  You have to have the work available and be prepared to deliver on all that you enter should you get in, but even if only one is accepted, then you can focus on that, as a positive.   Keep trying and good luck.

Hello, BumbLeBee..Sorry about your disappointment, I understand 'putting yourself out there" and all the anticipation! Well, first step! I need to learn from you, I haven't worked in my art in over 20 years, now trying to get back into it... anxious? You bet!
