Hey everyone-
This blog is in regard to the artists works that have done their time. I mean, a painting or work that has been exhibited alot and never sold, but too old to enter in exhibitions and didn't receive alot of interest.  Lucky for me that most of my work sells or gets put into someones collection.  There are works that aren't so lucky and I paint over them to produce a new work. (Ghost painting)  I know all the works that I put out there that has a painting under a painting.  I normally don't like to do it, but I hate to waste a work plus the buyer gets two for one.  Is there anyone out there that does this too? Some of the masters did the same thing.  If you didn't do this, you may end up with alot of work in your closet.  Also, if you don't, start signing your works, because this shows pride in your work and self, also making it desireable to collectors.

I do this without hesitation. And the times I have done it, the second painting has always sold. A canvas rebirth? It's actually nice because the previous painting provides a nice texture to work with the second time around. In fact, I have one painting I did 3 years ago (I hated it from the beginning but thought it might suit someone's taste at some point) that I have staring at me right this minute. Yesterday I emailed a photo of it to a customer as a final hope to sell it before it gets a gesso beat down.
