High Hopes

I finally mailed off my first approach to a gallery yesterday. It's been months in the making - painting, repainting, photographing, redoing, photographing again, making a CD, making prints, and on Tuesday I had persuaded myself I was insane to think anyone would be interested. Thank God some of my loyal friends pushed me to get it off! They said "You'll feel freer once you do it." And they were right - now I can go to my studio and spend a little time just playing.

One thing I discovered: once you start worrying about what "they" - the galleries, the collectors - your patrons  - think you start losing the joy! I'm so glad I got my joy back!

The hard part is letting go of worrying what someone else will think about your art.  Sometimes it is better to just go with it, and don't ask too many opinions.  If you love it, that's what matters most.  Best wishes!

Well let me get in line in congratulating you on your big step.  It is funny how nervous we can make ourselves when we worry about what someone will think of our work.

Good for you! Always keep the dream alive and never stop painting for the fun of it! Once the joy is gone, so is the creativity!
