I live about 200 miles south of you in Fort Lauderdale and am a member of three local arts organizations - ArtsUnited, Broward Art Guild and ArtServe. I think membership of organizations and possibly venues like this are, or can be, indispensable for artists, many of whom isolate rather too easily. (There is a line that I as a photographer like - "Isolation Is The Datrk Room Where We Develop Our Negatives."

I have an installation piece of work in a show opening next weekend down here called "The Red Eye." When it was going to be just ONE piece I was going to call it "Another Fucking Rainbow" as a comment about how we in the GLBT commiunity seem to have used the rainbow almost to death as an image. When the ONE piece grew to THREE pieces juxtaposed together I was going to call it "Enough With the Rainbows, Already" reflecting the way many people down here speak (transplanmted New Yorkers).  An artist friend suggested a more ambigiuous title "Over The Rainbow," which can be interpreted at least two ways..
