I am always leery of online crit.  The image is not the "real deal" and thus it only provides the viewer with a "second hand" impression of the work.  The internet is a great place to view work but the object at hand, or the original artwork may be very different than what appears on the computer screen.  That being said, there are now exhibitions based on electronic jurying and judging.  But of course, the jurors and judges are usually professionals from academia, museums and galleries.  I would say that online open critique is a try it at your own risk proposition for artists.
