1. How does an unknown artist (me) display and sell little colored pencil drawings online?

2.  Should I be careful of copywriting them somehow, or preventing reproductions from being made?

I'm going to look around for more artist's sites.  Maybe "Art Matters."

Thanks.  Philabee

Hello Philabee,

There are many websites out there that make it very easy for you to sell your work online. I think Etsy.com is probably one of the most popular. You can also sell prints of your work at sites like imagekind.com or cafepress.com. Your best bet is to open up your favorite search engine and try searching "sell artwork online" and then see which sites you find that you like the best. Ebay is also a great place to sell work and gain exposure. However, I wouldnt recommend selling on ebay unless you completely understand the ebay marketplace. With all of that said, selling your work online takes more promotion than anything. A common conception is you just post your work somewhere and it starts like hotcakes. This isnt true. Once you have work posted somewhere, it then takes a lot of constant promotion so that people can find your artwork. I hope this helps get you started. Good luck!
