Thank you everybody for your interest in my newest creation, the "Gully Gumpies" I would like to respond to all of you kind people individually, but I am afraid that my skills in navigating even a very userfriendly website like this one are limited. So, until I have figured everything out, please, bear with me and don't take it personally, if I don't respond in any expected way.:-)

Here are some thoughts about my "Gullies" They first wondered through my mind while I was participating in an Artist's Way group. I was in a pretty bad place and I did not like writing every morning, because it felt like it used the wrong part of my brain and made it even harder for me to start painting. So I started doodeling in my sketchbook. Anything that came under my pen I put down. Soon it turns out that every line was curvy and whimsical. First I tried to fight it, because I saw myself as a "serious" artist who had something profound to say. Well, it turns out deep down I like to be happy and playful and like to make others feel happy,too. What a concept. It took me a while to take my new style seriously.. But other artists who saw my sketchbooks encouraged me to try my ideas in some bigger form. After about a year I did exactly this and what you see in my gallery space is the result. Thanksgiving weekend was my first gallery showing of my new paintings and people liked them. I still have big plans with these little guys. I want to create more depth, want to paint bigger formats. And thanks to all of your favorable comments I have the courage to do so. Thanks a lot.   Birgit
