What do you do about signing your work?  I think that my name often distracts from the image itself.  Sometimes when I look at other artists' work I think it would look so much better without the signature and yet buyers often say "Where's it signed?".   Sometimes I sign the back or I often print my name in small letters.  It's a new decision every time.

Hi again, Ellen.  I just put my initials in the lower right corner.  I use a color that is compatible with the work but is still readable.  Thus, it is there, but doesn't detract.

I couldn't figure out how or where to sign mine for the longest time either. I keep mine small and in a bottom corner so it doesn't interfere with the work. And I use a marker instead of paint so it isn't messy looking. There isn't a right or wrong answer to your question.

I use  my initials and sign in full on the back- I agree, thatl the signature detracts, but buyers want to see it. I guess Antiques Roadshow has everyone brainwashed. :-)

Maybe try pretending it's a letter to a friend and just " sign it".Sorry, maybe I'm toooooooooooo simplistic but you know what they say " keep it simple sweetie" Life is too complicated .

My work is fine until I sign it...then the value plummets like Presidential ratings.
