My dad was born in NY. Beginning at an early age, and with no formal training, he carefully and dutifully crafted a distinct, engaging style that remains as unconventional as it is intriguing. Over the years, many of his paintings have been successfully displayed and sold at a number of divergent venues, including the New York City Center Gallery, the Hilda Carmel Gallery, the Lynn Kottler Galleries, the Waverly Gallery, the Avanti Galleries, and the Gilbert Stuart Studios, to name a few.

To this day, he continues to produce compelling work from his studio, and remains ardently dedicated, not to crafting a marketable formula, but rather to continuing the search to expand his abilities and explore the uncharted boundaries of his talent.

Reading, painting, watching old movies and going out to breakfast with his daughter on Saturday mornings. HA!

When people ask why my dad paints. “You would only ask that question if you didn’t like the work. If you did, it wouldn’t matter. For me, it’s instinctive and pleasurable. When it’s not anymore, it will always be instinctive.”

Thanks for the compliments on the celeb portraits in "The Entitled" series on my page. Come to think of it - your profile pic would fit right in! Jared

I want to answer your poll but cannot use any of the answers you provided.  I have a mailing list that has accumulated over 40 years.  After trying just about every venue for advertisting, I decided that word of mouth is the best and started to keep contact information.  I work my mailing list of proven clients for repeat business.  New clients are picked up at festivals, web site and eBay sales.  Lots of money is wasted on advertising.  Press releases are another way of getting my name out there along with mailings and newsletters (to that mailing list).  Invitations are sent everytime I do a festival and sometimes a two line ad in the classifieds in the town where I will be doing a festival.  A two line ad in the classifieds in target cities can drive traffic to my web site and are affordable.            &nb sp;    me

Courtney,

I wouldn't know what to do about counterfeit money. That really is tough! I've been attempted to be scammed three times. Once I actually received a check which was counterfeit. I waited 'til it cleared but got a call from the bank instead. The scammers had made the check out for twice the ammount of the paintings which was a red flag. They hoped I would eagerly deposit their check then send off a real check for the balance to the "movers" to come get the paintings. Each of the three scammers had elaborate stories. Two were identical. Stupid! I called the cops but haven't heard anything yet. Good luck! Alison

Wonderful!! Your portraits are haunting and at the same time humorous and quirky, very captivating.  I know we hate to compare but.. they remind me of  a combination of Alex Katz and Modigliani's, what a combo!
