About Me: Hello, my name is Elizabeth. During undergrad, I majored in Art History where I studied medieval stained glass windows with images of obviously disabled and ill individuals visiting shrines in hopes of miraculous cures. These individuals are usually bandaged or leaning on crutches with sad pitiful expressions on their faces. Although the images are unsettling, the pieces of colored stained glass windows and dark lead made them beautiful and alluring. These images have inspired me to produce abstract paintings resembling bandages and stained glass windows. Sometimes I incorporate human bodies, usually bandaged or in pieces. I use acrylic paints on canvas. I also use coffee, watercolor or gouache, and ink on paper. The paints are applied in washes, thin transulucent layers, with the ocassional drips and splatters. The color choices depend on what kind of mood I am in, sometimes colorful, sometimes gray and dark.
