I am an artist and commercial illustrator looking for my voice, trying to step out of my comfort zone. I travel as much as I can, have discovered that I like to teach and I seem to be quite good at it. I love working as part of a creative team, find that painting and creating any kind of art one of the most gut-wrenching, soul-bearing things I could ever want or need to do. I want a studio or a space of my own and I want to get out of bed each day knowing that I have a reason to be here and a voice worthy of being heard.

Hi Kirah, In reviewing your gallery, I noticed your paintings of Reno then saw that you were living in Nevada. It's always great to meet
other artists in your area, I'm painting and teaching in Reno, is your studio near by? Nice work by the way.

Cheers, David

Thanks or the compliments on the Neutrals : )

Someone was recently telling me about water-based oils. I hadn't heard of them until then. Do they really clean up well with water and have oil consistency and workability?

Excellent work. I enjoyed your gallery very much. "Tahoe rocks" and "Sydney" really are outstanding. Sydney looks a little like my dog.  Gerry

Kirah,

Your work is awesome.  I was drawn to Tahoe Rocks, which led me to your website.  Your Urban Landscapes and Sierra Nevada Landscapes are my favorites.

Welcome to the group!  I think you will find a lot of great, talented people here.

I really love all your work. Especially the street scene and the umbrellas. The loose brushwork and simple detail really appeals to me. I'm trying to steer that way way with my painting but I get hung up on detail. I'm hoping that working with a larger brush will help me get away from that.

Do you use just acrylics and water or do you utilize a retarder too?

You have some nice work in your gallery. Are they oils? They are well done.

Welcome to the site...
