Keb Mo, Lightenin' Hopkins, Norah Jones, Frank Sinatra (seriously!) Emmy Lou Harris, Eminem, Norah Jones..

Lately I only study art history books. I have loved Barbara Kingsolver's Prodigal Summer, Karl Hiaason's books, The English Patient and A Prayer for Owen Meany.

This is tough because I always forget the titles...

I paint every day and love it. I have a studio/gallery that is in a very public place so I get to paint and talk all day long. It's a great life. www.alisonvernon.com

My family, walks in the woods, birds at our feeders, Boston Museum of Fine Art, red wine in the evening, canoeing in marshes, chocolate..

Weak coffee.

Hiking, canoeing, bird-watching.

Hi Alison, thanks so much for posting on my portrait!  I appreciate your comments and will take a look at it more closely (and finish it)!  I think you are right about the value!  I really love your pallette knife work!  just wonderful, I suppose you use acrylics = what kind of gel would you be using to thicken it - soft, molding paste?  There are so many different types out now isn't there?  I use the acrylic fluids and should be experimenting a lot more with different gels, but seem to stick with polymir medium for the mixed media work.  Well, you are an inspiration! Thanks!

Figures you would like the Tuscany painting (the one you said was Wolf Kahn-ish), it's done with a palette knife!

Just stopping by to say "hello!" I love your thick paint process...isn't it fun to paint with butter?  I use my fingers and a viva paper towel, and a palette knife.   Have fun today!

Wow! you do work like a maniac and it pays off if you're selling as much as you do. Good for you!! I wish I had the time to paint that much. I'm very sporadic. Not enough painting to make a living at it right now. My wife and I own a home decorating business so we're usually busy with that. I paint in between projects and when I get a couple hours here and there. I sell just about everything directly to our customers so that works out well. This is the latest commission I'm working on:

Alison - the youtube videos are great! Proctor Sanctuary is beautiful. Have you worked with acrylics or just oils?
