Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, from a family full of music and art, I am feeling back at home.

I graduated from Carnegie-Mellon's fine arts program focusing on painting. After college my career re-routed me to the corporate world specifically in packaging design.

My focus has been on African Religions of the Diaspora that survived the middle passage (how they are similar, their differences and how they have syncrenized vs. how the religions currently exist in Africa today). My focus on the spiritual characteristics has been the inspiration for much of my work.

I am currently a member of a visual artist organization called "Women of Visions" and currently participate in group shows with the organization.

African Spirituality, great music that inspires my art (music that transports me to a place), when I touch a blank canvas or one with my sketch and the canvas tells me the colors to use, love of life...the energy of life, when nature talks!

Visions! This is why meditation is a must!

Karma! The laws of the universe!

close-minded individuals, negativity, the lack of respect for the power of the universe

Hey, Adrienne. I'm good. How are you. I haven't been online here much for a while. My wife just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl so, needless to say I've been busy! How are things with you and how's the art?

Hello Miss.  How are ya?  Been running around like a madman.  A Boutique on south beach wants 12 40X60 paintings.  So no sleep for me.   LOL!

Thank-you for the positive comment on "crucifiction".  I painted it for my mother who is a devout Roman Catholic.  I have not showed it to her and I can't wait to see her reaction.  She likes my art work and has a few of my paintings hanging in her house. I painted crucifiction after I saw a similar painting in an art auction catalog.  I tried not to copy it but rather put my own spin on it.

Adrienne, I am glad my mask paintings made such an impression on you. It is an honor to be an inspiration. Yes, we should stay in touch and I would be glad to answer any questions you may have.

The 3 main criteria I follow as a painter are: I paint to please me, I have fun doing it, and I continually challenge myself.   A perfect day for me includes color, composition and a cold one. Happy Painting!  -Don

I just spent some time in your gallery and I am impressed. I really like the way your portraits/faces have the angles, shapes and empty eyes of African masks. Very nice...    -Don

Hi Adrienne, Thanks for your comments on "Afterglow". The medium is acrylic. I am constantly inspired by the challenge of giving inanimate masks life thru color and composition.   -Don
