I am primarily a self taught artist though have several years over the years of university art classes. I paint in watercolor, oils, and acrylic, and I am in love with drawing. Drawing with anything, especially graphite, but love colored pencil, pastels, conte, charcoal, and most recently I have found silverpoint (metalpoint)I started college when abstract expressionism was "the" thing and I am a realist so I bored quickly of most of that. I left school for a few years before taking life drawing classes at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Az. I studied there under a very gifted instructor/artist, Jim Garrison, who with three continous semesters of life drawing taught me how to see and how to draw it. I was entrenched by then with a family and in another career which lasted over thirty years until the first of January this year when I had the opportunity to have the go at it as a full time artist. Though I have kept my hand in it in some sorts, I have a lot to learn about the business of art especially, and I have a lot to discover about my art again along with what I find in yours also. I look forward to making new art friends here and hope we can make it a lasting friendship no matter what type of art you do, what medium you work. Creative people I have found to be the most interesting people in my life.

Intelligent people who work hard at their art or craft no matter their level, just so they believe and work to make it better. Cloud filled skies at sunset, hey I live in the West, can't beat a sunset out here. A new brush, handmade drawing/watercolor paper, drawing, painting.

Pretenders, loud and insanely inane people, bad coffee, very cold windy weather.

Drawing, painting, woodworking, cycling, reading, photography

Thanks for the compliments on my work!  I checked out your gallery and loved it all. March Madness was my favorite.

Really dig the work in your gallery.  The watercolor on the street is my favorite.

Wow, I can't make a choice. Both of them are excellent and very pleasant. I have always loved the play of shadow and light, you caught it very well. Very-very good works, and those trees aside...simply amazing!

HI Michael! I am honored and blushed with your nice comments on my Palms. Yes it seems like out of the blues but it wasn't. It is a long long time ago project I had and now I just did it. I went to my carpenter to have some panels done and I had the opportunity of doing this large panel and I thought why not? I came out ok but it was certainly very hard on my shoulder the glazing work I had to work on my left hand also!!  I am kind of exploring many things on my paintings but I am still working on my macro series (Magueyes, Tunas, etc..) for a solo show in a nice gallery in the Riviera Maya. See you soon......

You are highly skilled.  Excellent work.  Have you read Jack White's art books?  They have helped me on sooooo many levels, they are easy to read and so very helpful in getting yourself out there in different ways.  I highly reccommend them.  Go to www.senkarik.com and click on books, start with "The Mystery of Making It."
