19th Century novels, Dickens, Jane Austen, the Brontes, etc. I have also read extensively on the occult, psychic phenomena, UFOs, crypto-zoology, and related subjects.

Classic and vintage films, also silent and foreign films, horror and sci-fi movies from the '50's and '60's, and a few select recent films, mostly period dramas. Favorites include The Passion of Joan of Arc (28), Adventures of Robin Hood (38), Bucket of Blood (59), Carnival of Souls (61), Emma (96), Amelie (01), Sky Captain and World of Tomorrow (04). Generally, I like films with a murder or a monster in it, or with ladies who wear bonnets or bustles. --- I have a collection of some 2400 DVDs.

I am a middle-aged bachelor and full-time professional artist resident in Rockford. A self-taught outsider/folk artist, I have produced a wide range of acrylic paintings, but focusing mostly on feminine portraiture and fantasy tableaux. I have been exhibiting nationally for twenty years and am represented by dealers in Chicago, Milwaukee, and D.C. i am profiled in the Encyclopedia of American Folk Art and have work at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Smithsonian Art Gallery.
