Hi Stephanie - teeth are the most difficult thing. I found that the two most important things are to not do them too white, even if the real ones are - and to keep the shadows between the teeth muted and undefined.  The colors and highlights on the face are more important, the teeth should take more of a back seat. I always thrash around with them anyway!

With hair, I block in the main colors on the light and dark sides, and then just put in some more detailed parts. If you detail the whole thing, it will look too tight.  I block in the light side with the actual colors of hair, and the dark side with the colors plus compliments - then add detail. It takes a while, but patience is one thing I have a great deal of!

In "Enigma" I blocked in the hair on the light side with some dark browns, and then on the dark side with some blues and purples. Since her hair is actually very black, the highlights are more in the blue/gray area.

I hope this helps - happy painting! Sarah
