Jazz and Classical.
Trained as an opera singer.

I read alot. Collete was my favorite as a young adult. So was Carlos Constanedas, then Ram Dass. After that I stopped paying attention.

Give me Woody Allen. He's my hero. Although some may turn from me in disgust, what do I care? I'm in love.

In addition to being a fine artist, I am a jazz singer. If you are interested go to my other web site. www.RobertaMiles.com and listen or CD Baby. I've been a jazz singer in Chicago for a long time, longer then I've been a respected artist in Chicago. I also write monologues and will be doing a one woman show in June 2008. (in Chicago) I am firmly rooted in Chicago as you can see. But I'm willing to take it all on the road.

writing my monologues and teaching art to preteens and adults, being creative and talking
to my best friends

pettyness, gossip, stupidity, people who are ignorant about creativity, mothers who pick up their children from art class and don't appreciate the work that was done or the effort put into it

Who has time?? No, really.

Hi Roberta, thanks for your nice comments on my work. I use a lot of different materials, I do some work with watercolors (very little), pastel (I love it because it reminds me of drawing with color chalks when I was little) and water mixable oils. But lately, I've started using a lot of mixed media, mixing them all up, on top of highly textured surfaces. This started out as a way of "unblocking" my mind when I got stuck, but they've taken a life of their own.

Good luck with your show!

Hello there,

I see that we do have more in common than painting.  Your also involved in music and writing.  Do you do stand-up?  What are the monologues that you write.  My daughter is a stand-up comic and is currently working on monoluges for this 2 person show.  She tours all over the world.

Hmmm???  I guess I will be turning 109 soon.  I guess I do carry my 109 years ok.  LOL!    Take Care, Karen

Hi Roberta,

Having recently moved from Chicago to Los Angeles, I am familiar with your name, so how nice to meet you here! I didn't know you were also a painter, and I think your work is beautiful. I was also a member of CAC, and am sad there isn't a similar group out here.

Thanks so much for your comments on my work. I do appreciate feedback on everything, so your comment on my titles is welcome. Any title in particular? I am becoming more particular about how I title my work now, and "The Agents of Change" is the first piece in a series I am working on by the same name. Many of my titles are personal, and I allow the viewer to come away with their own ideas.

Thanks again!

Thanks for your comment on "Wind", I can get carried away with horses manes. Your pieces are very interesting to me, because they're not like anything I do, or would even try to do. I like the one with the bright sun-like emergence at the top of the painting.

Pretty, pretty!

This is a weird program.  It will  not accept the word s t y l e.  It always changes it to title.  Argh.
