Jude Bischoff is an athlete, naturalist, father, dreamer, and artist who revels in the natural energy of the world around him. Trained as a fine artist, Jude received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University.

The natural world swims through my paintings like a fat bellied fish in a surreal colored mountain stream. My art reflects the extreme energy encountered in negotiating the outdoor landscape and the joy I find in exploring both outer and inner worlds. This can be found anywhere from hiking under a magnificent sugar pine tree to flying over a jump via a mountain bike. These paintings respond to life’s dance and fire within. Jump from a tall cliff into an icy alpine lake, trail run over a mountain pass or climb the northeast arête of Bugaboo spire. Graze your hands through the desert’s red rock floor. Do you feel the dance?

At its heart is a profound connection to the known and the great-unknown. The natural universe—icy restless peaks, opaque water pools, the exceptional humanity and beauty of human endeavor and the supernatural universe— the spirit world casting its energy through rocks, ravines, chasms, and human behavior. The seemingly disparate images I paint—turtles, tongues, dogs, ducks, bearded wise men, etc. demonstrate the untamed spirit that flows through all things and that presents itself freely in dreams and imagination.

“Jude paints bold in-your-face images”, said a recent critic. Every line, brush stroke, color field represents a myriad of ideas and thoughts brought together like a series of seismic eruptions forming an immense mountain. “A geologist told me Mammoth Mountain did not exist 100,000 years ago. My latest painting did not exist two weeks ago.”

The paintings of Jude Bischoff are filled with light and energy. His work is deeply imbued with his love of the outdoors and a life fully lived."— Lars Johnson

"Jude¹s work conveys a wry sense of humor coupled with an awe and respect for all the wonder of nature." — Laura Ness, Writer and Journalist

Jude is a visual communicator. His art has inspired me to re-examine the role that nature and organic forms play in my own work.." - Kathi Cushman, Graphic Designer

Jude’s web site recently won a gold medal at the MarCom Creative Awards for excellence. You can preview Jude’s work at www.judebischoff.com

Jude’s painting “Dancing School House” is currently featured on Burrell School Vineyards 2004 Old School Cabernet.

Hi Jude - thanks for the good luck wishes. I actually have sold more prints the past few months off of my website than I have at these shows, but most of my print sales are from people that saw the actual prints somewhere else and they know what they are getting when they order from me online. I wont make alot of money at this show if I only sell prints so hopefully there will be customers looking for original art along with the less expensive options.

hey jude - Thanks for visiting my gallery recently. It's funny that you characterized Ollie North as a "murdering scum-bag" because that was actually a small theme in the accompanying black and white portraits that I did. (check it out: there's Saddam, OJ, and Ted Kennedy) In all, there are currently 12 pieces planned for the series - 6 BW's (already posted in my gallery) and 6 Colors. The series is called "The Entitled - The Unentitled". I hope you'll check it out again soon. Take care - Jared

Hey  Mtnmun, I just posted two more today.  Other than that I posted some last week or so.  I haven't posted any of my new charol drawings lately though.  Take a look through my gallery and let me have it.

Good to hear from you!

Thanks for your kind words about the Virgin of Mosul piece.  Believe it or not, I have 72 paintings of this subject that I've been working on for more than 3 years.  Finally, they will see the light of day in November....

Anyway, I enjoyed your self-portrait....somewhat cubist, though individual and complex.  Well done.

Best regards,

Steve

Thanks for visiting my site. Sorta new to all of this, but i appreciate the feedback. I see the work as a visual poetry of sorts. My wife is a filmmaker and I have had this idea of using strings of images as if you are looking at film frames. When seen in a sequence some meaning or at least a feeling occurs. For more examples of my work, please go to www.mountainteastudios.com. Take Care-Mark
