I love being a mom and wife. My children have really opened up my world and enabled me to find beauty in things I haven't thought about since I was a child. They have also made me way less of an introvert.
Studying Buddhism has changed my perspective on many things. It has made me realize that as an artist I must create paintings that are meaningful. My focus in art is to uplift women and portray them in a beautiful and powerful way. I love to experiment with a lot of subjects though. I tend to do that too much and lose focus.

People who take a genuine interest in helping others as well as themselves. Outdoor music festivals (particularly Reggae).

People who are obsessed with themselves. I hope that doesn't sound too judgemental, I realize artists have to be able to promote themselves. Having to do any kind of public speaking. Driving on freeways, highways etc.

I am a stay at home mom, and have two boys; 4 and 6 years old. I also have been studying Buddhism for about 2 years. I would love traveling to be a major hobby someday.

Mary,

Thank you for your comments.  Your work is quite beautiful also.  My name is Dorothy, I have worked for Augie since 1992.  He is from Congo, the area where written about in Poisonwood Bible.  It is a very good book isn't it?  You can see more of Augie's art: www.nkele.50megs.com

Mary,  I actually have a part time job at a frame shop in Brookfield square.  I do have some work there, at this time that would be the only place I have my work displayed in the area.  I'm still working on a portfolio, and at some point hope to get in some galleries around the area.  Thanks Mary.  Keep  creating!

Mary, I used to work in Waukesha! Only for a year, at a beauty salon. I think the whole block was demolished.

I love that you want to paint something meaningful, and help women. We all need to take better care of our selves.  RZ

Hi Mary, Welcome to ArtScuttleButt. I think you're going to like it here. I really enjoy your work. Your use of rich color is right up my alley. My favorites are your self-portrait and the pin-up girl. Good work.   -Don
