Hi- as far as teaching I am able to paint while I teach.  I paint fast and direct and know what my next step will be. I have a curriculum that I develop for each of my "Expressive" classes and workshops. I give them demo's and help them with certain lessons I want them to grasp and then I give them time to paint expressively however they want to. If they can grasp the elements of art and the principles of design and how these fundamentals all work together, plus add their heart and soul into their own work, I see wonderful works and amazing pieces. I did this back in the 90's when my kid was little and now I've tweaked and improved my classes for this summer. I'll start these classes and workshops in June and end in August. Then, I'll start classes for Fall and I think I will include Winter- haven't decided about that yet. But, I love teaching while painting-it's a blast!

Thanks for saying Hi - I am so happy to hear you are painting again. Some stuggles for everyone with the economy but don't give up. I know you know this but we artists need each other. I have a group show in May with 80 local artists here in the Twin Cities called, "ART ON A LINE". So far I have been good-could use more sales but now I am gearing up to teach workshops and classes this summer. I can paint and teach at the same time. I have had many people asking me why I do not teach- I did years ago when my daughter was little but had to cut back. I am excited about all the new things and avenues we are offered as artists. I look forward to seeing new works from you. Let me know when you post ok?

Hi Marlaya,

I write my own contracts.  I started by using 2 very reader-friendly books called "Business and Legal Forms for the Fine Artist" and "legal Guide for the Visual Artist." Both were written by Tad Crawford.  I then added my own wants and needs to his forms and it has served me well!  Hope that helps!                                                                                                                                            Paint Pony Studio

Hi Marlaya,

As stated in my profile, I don't get jazz.  However, I get it in your paintings.  Wonderful emotions.  Love Piano Girl.  Hope you'll post more here and will visit your site until then.

Marla,

Keep painting! It's  obvious you paint for the joy of creating rather than painting what you think wiil sell, therefore you will probably sell!
