About Me:
I make my living both as a visual artist and as a musical artist. As a professional opera singer, I have performed many roles in the United States and abroad and I have taught voice for more than 20 years. I found my passion for painting in 1986, and have been engaged in dual careers ever since. For more on the music, visit us at www.voiceanddrum.com.
About My Work:
My artwork is primarily inspired by my own musical experiences, scientific discovery and spiritual ideals. Certain elements appearing in many of my paintings represent specific ideas to me. Orbs represent the unbroken circle and the birth of life within our starspangled universe. My use of ribbons denotes the connection of all things. Checkerboards imply choice.
I am attracted to specific subject matter which has led to various series of paintings. I am inspired by mythology, the human form, physical science and astronomy, musical instruments and their history, operatic ideas and popular song lyrics, our seasonal experience of the rhythms of life, cultural ideosynchrasies, proverbs, wit and ancient wisdom.
I hope that you will find some insights of your own in viewing my work. I invite you to share them with me. |
