It is not always easy to answer a poll with the options given: People do treat me different when they find out I am an artist and art is needed.  As an artist, it depends on the person I meet.  I am treated different depending on the size of the town I am in, the art appreciation of the individual, other artists, artists who are not as professional, want to be artists, their profession and their previous contact with art and other artists.  I do feel the need to perform for some and many don't take me serious because I work at home.  Some can't take me serious as a professional woman because I am married.    Art is needed. Think about it: what kind of society would we have without it.  No billboards, no advertising (well, that is the good part), no color coordination, no civility, no galleries, no work on the walls to contemplate, fewer rebels, less honesty, less independance, fewer people to say, "Hey, the emperor has no clothes on".   me

Thanks for the critique LL - I will agree with you. There is definitely some artistic gimmickery in that self portrait. However, I find that over time it continues to grow on me. I'll let the historians contrive the significance behind the painting after I'm dead:) I hope they do well. - Jared

Hi Laughlines,

I just wanted to say thanks for the nice comment you left me.  I looked through your gallery and liked so many pieces.  You have such a wide range of ideas for your paintings.

Thanks Laughlines.  I enjoy painting them too.  I am trying to do some more abstract work lately.  The butterflies take alot out of me.  We'll see what comes of it.
