kjhartist, good question "Why Indians?" I think it's because of where and when I was raised.

I grew up in Oklahoma, Land of the Red man. I lived there most of my life until I moved to New Mexico. So American Indians are familiar to me.

I also grew up when television was dominated by Cowboys and Indians. American Indians are nostalgic for me.

I'm also of Cherokee heritige so American Indians are family to me.

Hey, you do really great work ! I'm not going to ask the usual questions, about photos, models ect. But why Indians? I paint portraits and have long had a desire to do a portrait of Pocahonas, why I'm not sure. You do a great job not just in painting, but your paintings tell a story !

Thank You,

kjhartist

Nice work, I really liked 'Ball Jar' and 'Blue Vase and Silk', though 'Cherry Cake' made me hungry so I am going to go find something sweet. Great Work!

Love your work! Awesome still lifes. I noticed you won "First Place" on the American Plains Artist show... Congrats! I entered that show this year and had one piece selected, but due to scheluling problem with that particular piece, it won't be able to be included in the show.

Look forward to seeing more great work.

"Do you use photos, models or your imagination with the American Indian art?"

Yes. LOL. I have models which I photograph. But I use their faces to get the lighting and expression. I'm not trying to do a portrait of a specific person. I also have hundreds of books which I research for the regalia, shields etc.
