lori Craig is a self-taught artist from Long Island, New York who, along with his partner lori, formed Heartworks Studio in 2006. The company started while Craig was sketching in the backyard of Lori's home. Lori had no idea that Craig could draw or paint and when she discovered this she expressed her desire to start an art company with the main focus being on hearts, inspirational sayings and quotes. Though he hadn’t created art in many years she had his attention and he gave it some thought. After exchanging ideas with Lori and researching how to proceed, Craig agreed and Heartworks Studio was formed. From the very first painting he started signing his work lori Craig based on his new partnership. In the beginning Lori envisioned standard hearts which he agreed to paint even though this was not what he had in mind. And although the standard heart paintings were selling, the pace was far from what Craig felt he could achieve. Patience not being something he quite understands he switched to acrylics from oil, started using various mediums and free wheeling as to the mood he felt for the day or for that matter the hour. He wanted to create art that his audience could relate to as they viewed his works. With this change, Craig’s paintings started to sell at a much faster pace and Heartworks Studio was on its way. Lori’s idea of spiritual sayings, words, and quotes were incorporated along with painting on recycled ceiling tins. Being drawn to straight abstract himself, Craig has started a collection of original abstracts that have been very successful.
Many of the originals on canvas were selling so quickly that he now has them reproduced into Giclee prints by L.I. Giclee from Freeport, New York so that more people can afford and enjoy them. Today Heartworks Studio is made up of originals on canvas and recycled tins, Giclee prints on fine watercolor paper or canvas and original abstracts on canvas or board.
lori Craig likes to think of Heartworks Studio as a people art company. His works have been purchased by companies, doctors, lawyers, educational facilities, and hospitals as well as donating to many charities in the Tri – State area. He attributes the success of Heartworks Studio to his painting being suitable for all ages, nothing political or religious, great as gifts and for personal viewing. Whether a memory of the past such as “The Bus” or “The Bug”, in the present day as in “A Childs Path” or “Be the Change” to a dream or a hope there is something for everyone.

Thank you for your nice comments.........that is what has made me so successful..........offering something different than the norm......I began years ago adding bits of metal to my paintings.......developed into all metal for years.  Recently, I got the "itch" to get my paints back out - now some are on canvas with metal shapes attached.................anne

Hi Lori,

Thank you for liking my work. I too am mostly self taught. And think what's on the canvas comes from the heart.Your work is delightful. Look forward to seeing more.

Welcome to ASB. I really enjoyed all of the work in your gallery. I'd have to say my favorites, for now, are "Changing Heart" and "Rainbow". I look forward to seeing more.   -Don
