HALL GROAT II | AMERICAN ARTIST
Location: ENDWELL, NEW YORK, United States

Hall II has been a fine artist for over 20 years. He currently is an Associate Professor at Broome Community College in New York, where he teaches foundation courses in Fine Arts. Groat has had solo exhibitions at Roberson Museum of Art, Everson Museum of Art, Washington and Jefferson College, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Finger Lakes Community College, Cazenovia College, Lemoyne College, and various other institutions. In 2004 he was included in an exhibition at the Roberson Museum Center, entitled Cosmos and Chaos: A Cultural Paradox, with artists Lucian Freud, Eric Fischl, Jerome Witkin and several other contemporary artists. Groat’s work was featured in a full-page advertisement in the January 2004 edition of ARTnews. Groat is included in private and public collections internationally, including Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta Jones, Clear Channel Communications, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Cellular One, Sheraton Hotel Corporation, Binghamton University, Everson Museum of Art, Munson-Williams Proctor Institute of Art, The State University of New York system, Roberson Museum and Science Center and Washington Jefferson College.

In 2006 Groat became involved with the new international Postmodern paradigm called "A Painting A Day" which originated in the United States. This new model was introduced to the world by, Duane Keiser, from Richmond, Virginia, and emerged on a global scale in 2004 through the confluence of various cutting-edge cyber elements, including popular auction sites, blogs, youtube and message boards through Google Groups. This initial model has evolved into a global view of fine art, nurtured by the Internet's public domain status and free from the influence of traditional institutions.

Hi Hall, I absolutely love your work and wondered if they were a painting a day. I'm on my 16th one today and find it the most amazing tool for getting off my laurels. Your work is so inspiring.

Hi HalI have looked over your gallery and am wondering if most of these pieces are part of your painting a day series. I feel very inspired by this movement and am about to embark on my own painting a day effort. Thanks for posting such good, solid work and also for all the art history background on your group page. This is all very encouraging to me and, I hope, to others. If you have any advice for me as I begin the painting a day path, I would be happy to have it. In the meantime, I will continue to look for your work here and elsewhere.

Looking through your gallery here I get the feeling like these are bits cropped out of a much larger work. Which of course isn't the case but the relationship to explanatory articles on famous artist is often handled with  focus on mundane items delightfully rendered. It would be interesting to see these curated on a wall  to look like they were excerpts from a larger painting.
