Life is good, being an artist. Creating is a privilege.
I am a professional artist, represented by two galleries in Door County, WIsconsin. Lately I'm painting a lot "en plein air," which has really improved my "seeing." As the Chinese say, "Look a lot, paint a little."

Since quitting my "day job" to follow my bliss 2 years ago, I'm dedicated to being an artist full tijme. I'm a painter and also a knitting designer/teacher. Have worked toward this goal for 20 years.
Art is a major part of my spiritual journey-- it leads me places that I couldn't have anticipated. The rewards are worth it.
FOrmerly I was a business software project leader, an English and French teacher, and have always been involved in teaching -- both painting and knitting.
I do too many things at once, being a Gemini. BUt as they say, "It's better to burn out than rust out."

Music, love, literature, funny stuff, bad jokes, family & friends and the privilege of being an artist.
Art influences: JMW Turner, the Fauves, Winslow Homer, Nolde, Susan Rothenberg, Louise Bourgeois, John Singer Sargent, and Andrew Wyeth.
Oh -- and Barack Obama in 2008!

Negativity and violence in any form. Bad coffee. Those inner (critical) gremlins that chatter in the heads of many of us artist types.

ART making, art books, art chat, other artists, art history -- you get the picture. ....Other passions: time w/ family/dear friends, the natural landscape, books, 12-step work, travel, scuba diving in Mexico, daydreaming, knitting and design, teaching, spiritual path-ing, writing, laughing, playing bridge, and living in the moment as best I can

OK take 2, I just wrote a long note and got booted offline so I will try and recap - I havent wanted to paint lately and am more interested in school, I am not even focused on painting in my studio but will have to get into it by winter session when I teach again. I have lost touch and interest in this website because it seems less intimate plus I just dont have as much time. Lastly, I hope all is well with you and your family and you find happiness in the holiday season.

Take care, Robin

Thanks for your comment about September Colorburst.   I love your watercolors...especially "Wisconsin Farmland".  I was born in Milwaukee, lived in the midwest until I was 9, the the family moved to Massachusetts.  I still have fond memories of the midwest.

Hi Jane.. I am coming off of a non stop week! I had a 3 day show last weekend, had to load, unload, setup, work the show, take down, load, and unload all by myself! As a result of doing everything alone and my middle age, I hurt my back and have had to try to take it easy since I came back home. I was amazed that people attended the show, and I had clients from 2 yrs ago come looking for me to buy some art so it was all good for me.

I am teaching as well as back in school so yes, I am busy with lots and lots of stuff. Glad to hear you are painting and still enjoying the outdoors and sounding well.

Robin

Nice.  Like the way you find your own 'view' and keep it fresh.

Nice to see your post.  Had to read it twice to be sure!  Thank you for the comment on Marionetteers.  Rochester is really pretty close, you know VT is like a postage stamp, and you get anywhere fast by air, and except for all those wrinkles (that make it bigger than Texas) Rochester is next door.  See you soon
